Just a Bite: App Cookie Tasting
High Country 365 tastes and reviews Appalachia Cookie Company
Before I jump into the cookie tasting review, I would like to give a big thank you to David Holloman, Owner and (in my honest opinion) cookie extraordinaire, of Appalachia Cookie Company.
As an Appalachian State University Alum, and entrepreneurship and marketing major, David knows a thing or two about creating an exponentially successful business in the High Country. Not only that, but him and his team of bakers also know how to make a mean cookie.
Kicking off his business in late 2013, David’s late night cookie delivery service has not only become a hit within the high country community, but has sparked interest across the nation.
Appalachia Cookie Company landed itself a spot in Paula Deen’s Top 10 Cookies in America list for their Blueberry White Chocolate Oatmeal cookie. However, the company doesn’t stop there with their incredibly delectable cookies.
Today, myself and the rest of the team here at High Country 365, were given the opportunity to try and taste some of David’s best sellers, as well as some new additions just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Chocolate Chip: Can’t go wrong with a classic. Lets start off by saying that the size of each cookie is comparable to the whole size of your hand. This favorite will be even more popular among those that enjoy a soft, warm, melt-in-your-mouth creation from the heavens. The batter has a subtle balance of sweet and just a tad salty, which compliments the delicious chocolate chips perfectly. A 10/10!
Cheesecake: A little smaller compared to its Chocolate Chip cousin, Cheesecake offers a light, fluffy consistency with just enough cheesecake to satisfy even the pickiest connoisseur. The cookie resembles a mix between a sugar cookie and snickerdoodle, with a light sprinkle of sugar on top. This rich cookie is sure to satisfy, another 10/10 in my book!
Blueberry White Chocolate Oatmeal: The “busiest” cookie in the box, this hard-working palette satisfier will make you fall in love with oatmeal all over again. Heaping servings of blueberries, white chocolate chips, and rich oatmeal demands this cookie be a nationwide best. Just ask Paula!
Red Wine Dark Chocolate: Alright, now lets slow it down and get in the mood for Valentine’s Day. No need for your Barry White classics CD when this cookie is in the house. Sweet, dark chocolate is complimented by a red wine undertone, that surprisingly doesn’t take away, even if red wine isn’t you favorite, from the cookies delicious nature. It’s certain, the Red Wine Dark Chocolate cookie is the official Valentine’s Day cookie! (Mark your calendars indefinitely).
Chocolate Dipped Bacon Roses: Now of course, these are not cookies, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t tempted to give these tiny babies a try. Bacon wrapped around itself and dipped in a tub of chocolate creates the classic sweet and salty combo that no one can resist. And whats better? You can send them to your sweetheart in a bouquet! Sign me up!
To no surprise, Appalachia Cookie Company does it again with its innovative, intriguing twists on classic favorites. So whether it is classic chocolate chip, or seductive red wine dark chocolate, make sure you put Appalachia Cookie Companies delivery service on speed dial.
